‘I Never Thought I Would Have a Wedding’ Clare Crawley and Benoit Beausejour-Savard Get Engaged

Clare Crawley and Benoit Beausejour-Savard got engaged on the Tell All special of The Bachelor Winter Games on Thursday night.

Benoit got down on one knee and popped the question in French, and she said, “Yes!”

“I get emotional talking about this, but I never thought I would have a wedding,” Clare tells Us Weekly

“Before my dad passed away, we had our own little like father-daughter dance at home, when we knew he was going to pass away. After that, the wedding wasn’t important. I think that’s when your dad gives you away, and that’s, to me, old fashioned, but it’s how things go. So, I never thought I’d have a wedding!”

Benoit shared the process of picking out the ring.

“[Neil Lane] didn’t have the one I was looking for, so he built a custom one, which is amazing. It was exactly what I asked, and he did the best job ever. It just blows my mind. It’s the first time I had to shop for this. It will be the last one, for sure. It’s kind of stressful, but I’m glad she likes it!”

He also tells PEOPLE that he didn’t expect this coming on the show.

“I was heartbroken on The Bachelorette: Canada but going back on this show I had an open mind. I was realistic that there might not be someone for me. But like you’ve seen on TV, I had the biggest crush ever on her. [But then] it wasn’t a crush, it was developing into something really deep and strong.”

Claire and Benoit reconnected over a text after she left the show.

“At that point, I was just thinking, ‘She’s ending up with Christian,'” he says. “The sentence that kept running through my mind was, ‘It’s not the end of the two of us.’ But I knew at that moment that she may have fell for him. It didn’t happen, so she just called me and from there, it went better and better, and we spent hours and hours each and every day talking to each other.”
