Arie Luyendyk Jr. Feels ‘100 Percent’ Betrayed by The Bachelor Breakup Scene with Becca Kufrin

The Bachelorette season 14 premiered this week and Arie Luyendyk Jr. is now speaking differently about his most talked about breakup with Becca Kufrin.

Speaking with GQ about the controversial season 22 finale, Arie, 36, revealed he felt “100 percent betrayed” by the network for how everything was handled.

“It was completely edited,” the former race car driver tells reporter Rebecca Nelson. “I was told to stay on that couch. I tried to leave, and then production was like, ‘You need to go back inside. She’s finally calming down. I feel like you owe it to her to have this conversation.’ So then I went back in the house.”

When Nelson pressed him, saying, “Really? You tried to leave and they wouldn’t let you?” Arie replied: “Yeah. I left, came back. I stepped away from the couch, I went back to the couch.”

“They cut out, obviously, production talking to me from 10 feet away,” he recalled, adding  “[It] was super unfair to me.”

Quick recap: Arie proposed to Becca Kufrin in the Bachelor season 22 finale, then dumped her in that same episode in front of cameras even though he wasn’t obligated to film said breakup. He then proposed to runner-up Lauren Burnham on the After The Final Rose special.

“The fact is, I’m really happy with Lauren,” Arie says. “So for me, it was all worth it” he concluded.
